Just one day before enigmatic comedian Dave Chappelle was scheduled to put Irving on Dallas-Fort Worth’s entertainment map with the first of two performances at the brand-new Irving Music Factory, the venue is delaying its opening.
According to a news release from LiveNation, the entertainment behemoth that will manage the venue and its bookings, construction delays are to blame for the sudden delay.
The venue’s opening will change its tune considerably, as opening night will now be Sept. 9, when ZZ Top will christen the Pavilion in its 4,000-capacity format. The Dave Chappelle dates, originally set for Thursday and Friday, have been rescheduled to Oct. 26-27.
Original tickets for Chappelle’s dates will be honored.
Never miss a local story.
Country hitmaker Brad Paisley’s show, originally scheduled for Saturday, has not yet been rescheduled. The venue said another announcement will be forthcoming regarding Paisley’s show.
Lifehouse and Switchfoot, scheduled Monday, and the Goo Goo Dolls, on Sept. 6, will keep those dates but at different venues. The Lifehouse and Switchfoot show will be played at Dallas’ South Side Ballroom, and the Goo Goo Dolls will now play at Starplex.
“It is with regret that we apologize to our patrons, however, it is important that we deliver a first-class venue experience,” the release said.
