Shannon Murray will join KDFW/Channel 4’s morning show Good Day as a weekday general assignment reporter, beginning Jan. 24, the station announced Wednesday.
It’s a homecoming for Murray, whose most recent gig was as a reporter/fill-in anchor at Austin’s KVUE.
“I grew up in Dallas, so I can't wait to cover the news in my hometown,” Murray says in a release. “I'm honored to be part of the top-rated station and to work alongside the experienced staff at KDFW.”
Murray’s broadcasting background is pure Texas: She started as an intern at Austin’s KXAN, then worked as an anchor/reporter at Midland’s KOSA. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
If that sounds like she knew what she wanted to do when she grew up, well, she did: “I knew I wanted to be a journalist at a young age,” Murray says on her KVUE bio. “My parents say I was born talking and telling stories so it wasn't hard for me to find the right career. In high school I anchored our school newscast, Eye of the Panther, and a degree in broadcast journalism was the natural path from there
According to her Twitter bio, she loves “music, running and queso.” Shouldn’t be a hard transition.
