Popular New York burger chain Shake Shack will open its first Tarrant County location next year, but you’ll need an airplane ticket to get to it.

Shake Shack will lease a spot in Terminal C at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport that is scheduled to open sometime in 2018. The restaurant will replace another burger joint, an existing McDonald’s, at gate C6.

The East Coast restaurant chain, known for its frozen custard shakes and long lines for burgers, already operates two location on the east side of the Metroplex, in Dallas and Plano. (All of the airport’s terminals are located on the Tarrant County side of the airport.)

The new concessionaire is part of the airport’s plan to improve the quality of restaurants at Terminal C, which has not been renovated as part of the airport’s $2.7 billion terminal remodeling project. The Shake Shack location will also convert an adjacent retail space for additional seating as it’s expected to see a high volume of customers.

“[Shake Shack] just opened in L.A.’s airport and they are doing extremely well, about $10,000-plus [sales] per day,” Zenola Campbell, the airport’s vice president of airport concessions, said.

DFW Airport also signed a new deal with Starbucks. The coffee chain will redesign five of its existing locations inside the terminals and convert an Einstein Bros. bagel location adjacent to the airport’s headquarters building in Southgate Plaza.
