TRE train fatally strikes bicyclist who was walking her dog

FORT WORTH

A Trinity Railway Express train fatally struck a woman near Haltom Road in northeast Fort Worth on Tuesday night, police said.

Police and emergency personnel were dispatched to Haltom Road and Etsie Street about 8:15 p.m.

The woman was riding a bicycle and walking her dog at the same time when she fell onto the tracks and was struck by a westbound train, said Officer Daniel Segura, police spokesman.

The woman was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Kristina Letney, 35, of Fort Worth.

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority, which oversees the TRE, tweeted that passengers might experience delays due to the accident.
