Cheers: To Andy Fancher for preserving the stories of veterans by recording their testimonies, then editing the videos and putting them on his YouTube channel. Thank you for shining a well-deserved spotlight on these true American heroes.
North Richland Hills
Cheers: To Arlington Public Library volunteers David Jackson and Sue and Tom Fincher for their outstanding service, endless smiles, and selfless attitude when it comes to serving the seniors of Greenfield Senior Living. Their efforts and attitudes are sincerely appreciated among the residents at our community.
Never miss a local story.
Mickey Mullins, Arlington
Cheers: To the animal rescue group Mutts and Mayhem for rescuing Daisy the injured lab in Dallas. Your time and perseverance are greatly appreciated. Thank you to Dr. Sable Murray and staff for your compassion, care and surgical expertise. Continued prayers and healthy recovery to Daisy and her owners.
Janet Anderson, Arlington
Jeers: To whoever found my dropped debit card outside a convenience store on McCart Avenue in Fort Worth. Also jeers to you for not turning it in, and for trying to use it immediately after finding it. Shame on you and the store for being unconcerned.
Beretta Smith, Fort Worth
Cheers: To the angel who turned in my debit card at the Albertsons on East Loop 820. You don’t know how you saved my life with that act of kindness. You are a blessed person!
Mark Boren, Fort Worth
Jeers: To the Fort Worth Transportation Authority on its new rate increase for buses, MITs and the TRE. It is outrageous and shows a blatant disregard, especially to senior citizens, the disabled and those on a fixed income. First give us better service before you charge us higher rates.
Tommie Carter Jr.,
Cheers: To those in church regardless of what T-shirts they are wearing. Let’s be thankful that they are listening to what the Lord is all about rather than being some other place.
North Richland Hills
Cheers: To churches that welcome hurting, lost, naked, ashamed sinners of all kinds regardless of clothing worn. I am thankful the church I go to is a Hospital Church, not a fashion runway showing off my clothing. You are even welcome in your Sunday finest. See you Sunday?
David Smith, Arlington
Cheers: To all the staff at Bishop Davies Nursing Center in Hurst for their continued care of my mother. It was truly heartbreaking as a disabled veteran to have my mother placed here but she enjoys it and the staff who help her and that’s most comforting to know!
Barry D. Wilson,
Jeers: To the Mansfield planning commission for allowing the massive gas station to be built at West Debbie Lane and Business U.S. 287 . Where was the public input? There will be a massive traffic problem, much less that the gas station will be an eyesore.
Larry Kincade, Mansfield
Cheers: To Pedro at Jett Car Wash on Denton Highway. After I locked my keys and phone in the car while vacuuming, he graciously offered the office phone for multiple calls and then went and got help from a nearby auto shop. He went above and beyond.
Christy Jones, Fort Worth
Jeers: To Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco for refusing to provide their guests with complimentary water cups when the summer heat is in the triple digits.
Cheers: To the lady who paid for our meal at Taquería Mex Grill in Cleburne. My sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Glenn Rohde, were visiting from Oregon and were very surprised by this kind gesture. Thanks, we will pay it forward.
Barbara Tucker, Cleburne
Cheers: To Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth for superb care I recently received during an eight-day stay. I was promptly seen in the emergency room and then admitted to the hospital. Special thanks go to Dr. Scott Bloemendal and Dr. Timothy Hadden for their expertise, care, and concern.
Beverly Hahn, Weatherford
Cheers: To Dr. O’Gorman and staff at Animal Hospital of Park Glen for their expertise in bringing Topaz, my chocolate brown standard poodle, through her most serious illness of the last couple of months. Dr. O’Gorman was most generous of his time and & obvious desire to find the solution for Topaz.
Cheers: To the caring and competent vets — Dr. Van Hoosier and his staff — who cared for my beloved Siamese, Chimichanga, from kittenhood through some difficult times all his life, and Dr. Becky Epps, who was there to help him through the end of his life. You are appreciated!
Bobbye French, Bedford
Cheers: To DFW Airport for this new (and much easier to read) flight information board in Terminal D. It is a significant improvement and much needed!
North Richland Hills
Cheers: To Terri Benepe, physical therapist with Haven Home Health. Terri came to our home to provide therapy to my husband following knee replacement. She was always on time, professional and delightful to work with. Her care and concern has made his quick recovery possible and we truly appreciate her dedication.
Barb and Paul Thomas, Fort Worth
Cheers: To everyone who stopped and offered assistance to our grandkids, Amber and Glen, following an accident on County Road 714 in Burleson. Thanks also to the Burleson Police Department and dispatcher, the EMTs and medical personnel at the Texas Health Harris Fort Worth emergency room.
Mike and Myra Kiggins, Burleson
Jeers: To a local cleaners for poor customer service. I took a blouse in and it was returned to me with three huge stains. The business denied any wrongdoing. After I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the cleaners still ignored my concerns for reimbursement.
Kerry Pitcairn, Arlington
Cheers: To the awesome emergency room staff at Medical City Arlington Hospital. They were wonderful upon my recent visit, especially nurse Shelby. She took excellent care of me and the entire ER was efficient and compassionate and quick to action. Great care! Thank you so much.
Shelby Mealer, Arlington
Jeers: To the Everman post office managers. This facility has become an eyesore. The grounds are not being maintained to a standard worthy of a post office. Outside trash cans are not emptied often, two outside electrical plugs have broken covers, tall grass growing in the joints of the concrete.
Cheers: To the salon staff at the Burleson J.C. Penney for the care and concern during my sudden illness there. Thank you to the Burleson Fire Station No. 2 for their immediate response and excellent help. May God bless each of you.
Frenchel W. Bolton,
Cheers: To Judy Shoemaker and Keller Williams Realty of Arlington for placing U.S. flags on the Fourth at each house on Doty Lane in Arlington. What a timely reminder of our freedom in this great country.
Tommy C. Bailey,
Cheers: To patient care technician MaryAnn Elmore at Texas Health HEB hospital for being so attentive and praying with my mother, who suffers from dementia, when I took her there when she had fallen and broke her ankle. You truly blessed us with your kind and caring personality.
Cheers: To the wonderful, friendly lady, Nancy, who volunteers in Terminal B at the USO kiosk. She called an Uber driver to pick me up at DFW Airport at 10:30 p.m. and drive me to Burleson. She put the fare on her account and would not let me pay her back. I did not have a cellphone.
Cheers: To the mayor, city council and city manager of Watauga for our new, beautiful Active Senior Adult Center. The seniors now have a beautiful home to call their own. Special thanks also to Sal, Vickie, Karla and other staff members for all you do.
Robert Hunze, Fort Worth
Jeers: To a bank that closed its drive-thru on Saturdays. You still have the same number of tellers working, but now all transactions must be made in the bank lobby. With the limited amount of parking, doing business there is becoming a real pain.
John Pugh, Keller
