No. 2-ranked Aledo overwhelms visiting Azle

The Aledo Bearcats, No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Class 5A state poll, racked up 577 yards as they shutout the Azle Hornets 69-0 Friday in a District 6-5A game at Bearcat Stadium.

Key players: Aledo quarterback Dillon Davis went 10-for-15, throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns, while teammate Michael Jordan rushed for 99 yards on just 11 carries and scored two touchdowns. Aledo failed to score on its opening drive for the first time this season, but Bearcats defender Wyatt Harris returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown on the Hornets first possession.

Key stat: The Bearcats had 386 rushing yards, while the defense limited Azle rushers to 55. Aledo has outscored its last three opponehnts 208 to 7.

Records: Aledo 6-0, 3-0 6-5A; Azle 1-5, 1-2.
