Arlington Bowie blunts North Crowley rally, remains perfect

The Volunteers remained unbeaten, holding off a fourth-quarter comeback by the winless Panthers Friday night at North Crowley. Bowie led 24-6 before North Crowley scored twice in a span of 1:46 to close within six with 6:49 left in the game.

Key players: Bowie quarterback Donoven Davenport was 14-for-24 for 133 yards to six receivers, including a pair of touchdowns. North Crowley backup quarterback Kevin Ellis rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the second after a blocked punt by Cailon Washington.

Key stat: Bowie converted four third downs in the contest, but two came on their final possession of the game as they ran out the final 2:51.

Records: Bowie 6-0, 3-0 in District 4-6A. North Crowley 0-6, 0-3.
