After a limited number of matches on Monday, the Texas high school volleyball regular season begins in earnest Tuesday night.

For the first month, area teams will look to craft their game with tournaments and key nondistrict matchups before district play and the postseason, and ultimately the state tournament in Garland in November.

Some teams look completely different than a season ago. Kathy Goings hung up the coaching clipboard after more than 20 years at Aledo and nearly 650 wins to watch daughter Maddie Goings (Star-Telegram Player of the Year) play at Oregon State.

A favorite to win player of the year this season, Texas commit Asjia O’Neal, decided not to play her senior year at Southlake Carroll.

Come Nov. 15-18, which area teams will be at the state final fours at Curtis Culwell Center in Garland? How many of the Star-Telegram teams can make it to the regional tournament? And can anyone stop Class 6A Hebron, which is looking for a third straight UIL state title?

Area district champs in 2016: Keller, Weatherford, Fort Worth Paschal, Southlake Carroll, Hebron, Aledo, Saginaw Boswell, Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Colleyville Heritage, Cleburne, Granbury, Waxahachie, Kennedale, Springtown, Glen Rose and Peaster.
