Exclusive: Child Protective Services worker charged with seeking out children for sex

An employee of Child Protective Services in Fort Worth was arrested Tuesday during a county operation charging men with seeking out children for sex.

Adrian Martinez, 44, of Saginaw was arrested on Tuesday and charged with online solicitation of a child.

A spokesperson confirmed Thursday afternoon that Martinez was a current employee at CPS.

“As soon as we became aware of the arrest of Adrian Martinez he was removed from caseworker duties and placed on administrative leave,” CPS spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales said. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement.”

Gonzales said Martinez has been employed as a CPS conservatorship caseworker since May 2016. Conservatorship caseworkers monitor the care of children who have been placed in the Department of Family and Protective Service’s legal custody.

When asked if the department was investigating Martinez’s cases and the children he worked with, Gonzales said the department is letting law enforcement direct the investigation.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s department said in a news release that 13 men were arrested between Sept. 18 and Sept. 20 on charges of online solicitation of a minor. Martinez was not one of those 13 men.

On Tuesday, police said warrants were still being obtained for an additional seven suspects.

The Tarrant County operation focused on people who believed they were talking online with children under the age of 17, according to the news release.

The men arrested were intending to meet with children for sexual intercourse and talking with them in a sexually explicit way, police said.
